FAQ - Honestly I need to hear faq say some of this word play in his accent coz to me most of it is a reach at best; 4 in body just sounds awful when I say it out loud, a pose/oppose was okay but still wasn’t quite a clean attempt to me. Island shots was dope though but overall I feel like some of the word play didn’t work to me and threw me off your verse and your punchlines weren’t as well executed as usual. I feel like you’ve come better and I don’t know if it’s just me but I’m not fucking with this too much.
Jack - Again I feel the same as I did about faqs, not fucking with this too much. I like the nursery rhyme but the set up was needlessly long, Reddit bar was meh, mad coincidence you both had tourniquet in your verses. I really liked face paint the pavement and hare outta the hat was a dope closer.
Maybe it’s just the way I’m feeling personally when voting today but both these verses just fell really flat to me with the exception of jacks closer and face paint the pavement. Those bars were enough for the W but overall his verse was just more direct and attacking

I like the elements relating to HCl / compound / break it down, thought you might have been bringin it full circle back to the initial crack / base line, but I hated the calm pound wordplay when Unfukwitable dropped it in a cypher & it hasn't grown on me. Might be a cultural thing but it doesn't sound right, if you told me "yo, just gave him a calm pound" I'd assume a gentle bumming or dapping someone up nonchalantly, other than that though you deffo showed up for this my dude

Another close one, anyone would think we're at the end of the tourney with only the best left. Got to give Faq credit for packing so much in, I feel kinda bad cuz I know a lot of the concepts you use are fresh to you since you're relatively new to battling, IE not still here after 10 years like a lot of other people on here, but if I've heard it before it just doesn't have that same impact for me. I think people will have a hard time keeping up with you once you get through that phase, the original shit you drop is sick, that eureka bar from last week is one of the stand out bars of the tourney.
Jack's execution of the bars and build up to the punches was on top form here, the arrangement can make a huge difference and the tourniquet line & necktie shit were on point. Plus everything was new to me so had that extra va va voom. I could see someone who hadn't spunked so much time away watching battles voting for Faq if the concepts were new to them, but I got Jack taking the W on this one.

@FaQEyeReddit there isn't a 3rd place playoff in a double elimination so based on the current votes you've finished 3rd, impressive shit considering your standard when you joined RB, hard works paid off, congrats. Prize money will be getting sorted out after the final is wrapped up so either next week if Virb wins or the week after if Jack wins the next round.
Good shit both. I’m glad the vote’s already decisive coz I wasn’t looking forward to having to call it. ‘The brain matter running / jog your memory’ bar and the nursery rhyme one were particular favourites.
No problem with the pronunciation in FaQ’s, seems legit to me. Deducting points for the ‘calm pound’ wp coz I’m still suffering ptsd from losing to that godawful ‘calm pound Virb’ shit in the cypher (sorry Unfuk, I shouldn’t speak ill of the dead). I agree that the ET and four-in / foreign puns have been used too many times, but whenever FaQ uses those touchstone wordplays it seems to be as a building block to set up for something more original. The ‘steel in you ese’ / ‘still in USA’ payoff was super creative and more than justified it.
Jack’s verse was a solid Jack verse. Varied writing, brutal bars with some amusing bits sprinkled in to provide moments of levity, complex ideas interspersed with relatively simple but impactful lines which make for a pleasing change of pace and a compelling read throughout. Jack’s verses encapsulate a lot of what I like about battle rap.
